One of the girls at work got flowers from her beau. He arranged to have them sent while he’s off on a business trip.

Not too shabby.

In ‘Today in History” - I just took some jello shots at work. First time for that one, y’all.
The best was, by far, The Bramble: blackberry + lemon + gin.

“….I’m turning 30 (THIRTY!) next week and 0.00% of my friends stepped up to plan something for me. I had to plan my own birthday celebration, a brunch, where I had to give my own damn credit card to hold the space. I guess that’s what adults do? Throw their own parties? I don’t know. I think I watch too much TV and too many movies where people’s friends throw them lavish birthday events.” —

Kia and I have the same birthday issues. I was legitimately bummed that I had to throw my own (Atlanta based. GR friends did it big) birthday this year and that a good number of my friends couldn’t be bothered to attend. Yes it was on NYE but damn, a girl only turns 30 once, ya dig?

I don’t know. I think I just really love birthdays and celebrating everyone’s so it may be time for me to re-evaluate expectations surrounding my own pretty princess day. Wah and what not.

(via sequinsandsideeye)

Aside from my childhood birthdays - man, Chuck E. Cheese was the shit! - I’ve planned every single official birthday party I’ve ever had. This is probably why I rarely have an official birthday party.

I’m sure having a late-August birthday didn’t help any. The first day of classes in college fell on my birthday two years of the four. And it’s right before Labor Day weekend when people have various plans already made.

Throw in the fact that I’m known for having a really diverse friend base who only know each other through me, and I’m sure it would have made planning rather difficult.

And this year, for the big 3-0, it will be the same. And I’m cool with that.

Georgie Girl: Crushed glitter sandals -

georgiegirlnyc:

As you know I don’t blog about my job or any of my clients.

But.

Today I will make an exception because I did something at work the other day with some of you in mind.

Remember the J Crew crushed glitter sandals that so many of you asked me about? The sandals that are sadly no longer available.

You said crushed glitter sandals and I knew EXACTLY which ones you were referencing before you even mentioned where they were from. I loved them myself, but surprisingly never snatched them up.

BUT! They did recently come out with the Lara glitter peep toes!

Also, I’ll be meeting said CEO myself on Monday and may mention your tale in our conversation.

I’m a sucker for a pretty dress.

Last Summer, deep in the job hunt jungle, I applied to be a flight attendant.
Two weeks ago, I received an e-mail saying my resume had been passed on to HR for review, and two days ago, I was invited to interview.
So next week, I’m interviewing.
As of right now, I’m not sure what the chances are that I’d take the job if offered, but I figure it’s at least worth finding out more.
